Afghan wool, natural mineral and botanical dyes
Handwoven by women artisans in Afghanistan
Created in collaboration with conceptual artist and painter Jee Kim, the carpet mirrors Jee’s works made from multi-colored duct tape. It was woven from locally sourced Afghan wool and colored with dyes derived from regional plants and minerals. The work was produced by women weaving from their homes, providing a source of income for artisans, including widows supporting their families.
The finished work was acquired in 2015 by the Chair of the Princess Grace Foundation.
